Adi Sankirtan

Chanting the Eternal Name — Awakening Hearts Through Divine Vibration and Collective Devotion

About the project

We are proud to introduce our project: Adi Sankirtan. Rooted in the timeless tradition of collective chanting, this initiative revives the ancient spiritual practice of Sankirtan — the joyful, devotional singing of the divine names — as a path to inner peace, unity, and spiritual awakening. “Adi” means original or ancient, and Adi Sankirtan brings back the essence of sacred group chanting as practiced by saints, sages, and spiritual seekers throughout India’s history. Through the repetition of holy names (Naam), this project encourages a return to simplicity, sincerity, and soul-deep devotion. Whether in temples, streets, communities, or schools, Adi Sankirtan sessions are open to all — creating an atmosphere of divine energy, healing, and spiritual connection. With the beat of the mridanga, the rhythm of kartals, and the power of collective voice, every chant becomes a celebration of the soul’s relationship with the Supreme. This project also includes teachings on the meaning of kirtan, workshops for youth, cultural festivals, and interfaith devotional gatherings — inviting everyone to experience the joy and unity of chanting together.

Why this project is important

The Adi Sankirtan project is important for several reasons. Firstly, it revives a powerful spiritual practice that transcends barriers of caste, age, gender, and background — offering a universal path to peace through sound and surrender. Secondly, Sankirtan brings joy and healing to both the individual and the community. It calms the mind, purifies the heart, and uplifts the spirit — especially in times of stress, disconnection, and material distractions. Thirdly, this project fosters unity and shared devotion by gathering people to sing together, not for performance, but for connection — to the divine and to one another. It turns public spaces into sacred spaces. Additionally, Adi Sankirtan keeps ancient spiritual traditions alive for the younger generation — helping them connect with bhakti (devotion), culture, and inner stillness through music and mantra. Overall, Adi Sankirtan is not just about singing — it is about transforming hearts, building spiritual community, and keeping divine remembrance alive in everyday life.
